In the Matter of the Companies Acts, 1862 to 1893, and in the Matter of the BRITISH MOTOR TRACTION COMPANY Limited.
NOTICE is hereby given, that a petition for the winding up of the above named Company by the High Court of Justice was, on the 12th day of April,1902, presented to the said Court by Charles Friswell, a creditor of the said Company; and that the said petition is directed to be heard before the Court sitting at the Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London, on the 29th day of April, 1902, and any creditor or contributory of the said Company; desirous to support or oppose the making of an Order on the said petition may appear at the time of hearing by himself, or his Counsel, for that purpose; and a copy of the petition will be furnished to any creditor or contributory of the said Company requiring the same, by the undersigned, on payment of the regulated charge for the same.

The KING was pleased, on Monday, the 13th instant, at Buckingham Palace, to confer the honour of Knighthood upon the undermentioned Gentlemen:—
Charles Friswell, Esq.54

He lent his 80 acre property to the Government for the duration of the 1914-1918 war.

Presumably part owner of Standard Cars - Friswells, later Chairman of Standard Motor Company [Reference from C Friswell for his nephew A.E.W. Ayers written 1911]

By Nov 1912 he had retired from the Standard Motor Company at Coventry after some problems [Letter to Woodzell Ayers 27 May 1913]

AT an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Members of the above named Company, duly convened, and held at 89, Great Portland-street, London, W., on the 20th day of October, 1915, the following Special Resolution was duly passed; and at a subsequent Extraordinary General Meeting of the said Company, duly convened, and held at the same place, on the 10th day of November, 1915, the following Special [Resolution was duly confirmed, viz. :—
'That Friswells Limited be wound up voluntarily; and that Sir Charles Friswell be and he is hereby appointed Liquidator for the purposes of such winding-up."

An entry on page 383 of the 1920 phone book for London has “Mayfair 3957 FRISWELL Charles, Sir, Engineer .. 89 Gt Portland St W.1” The 1921 and1922 entries have the same text except that the phone number at the beginning is Langham 1958. In 1925 and 1927 the only change is that the address is now 143 Gt Portland St. Sir Charles was not listed in the London phone book in 1950. 12

The Shipping Lists from South Africa Magazine on January 8, 1910. included LISTS OF PASSENGERS. Under the DEPARTURES heading we find that the passengers departing from Southhampton on 8 Jan 1910 on the R.M.S. Saxon, included Sir Charles Friswell and Lady Friswell going to Cape Town. 58

In May 1935, she sent 500 pounds sterling to her nephew Arthur E. W. Ayers in Australia. 59

Her will of 25th Sept 1947 gives her address as Marlborough Court, 46 The Drive, Hove, in the County of Sussex. This was a flat, with a room for her maid She d.s.p. 16th Aug 1960, will proved 1st Dec 1960
