She was baptised at Saint Mary-St, Marylebone Rd, St Marylebone, London twice. On 4 Nov 1860 she was christened as Emily Ellen LUSSENDEN, father Frank LUSSENDEN, Corporal Royal Artillery, and mother Louisa, resident at 27 Thayer Street, London.

One week later, on 11 Nov 1860 she was christened as Emily Ellen FREWER, mother Louisa FREWER of 6 East Street, no father and no explanation. Both entries give her date of birth as 28 Aug 1860. Emily der husband died before her. According to her will they had no children. However there were two children buried at Abney Park Cemetery who may have been Arthur’s children by his first wife: Ellen Poupard buried 26 Nov 1877 aged 9 weeks; and Stuart Poupard buried 23 Dec 1886 aged 2 years.
