As a child living at Avonsleigh, Margaret did most of the cooking for the family.
She attended Mentone Girls' Grammar School for 1 year.
After about 6 months helping at home, she worked for one year as a teacher's aide at Cockatoo school near Avonsleigh. Later she joined her sisters, Kathleen and Frances, working at Myers.
Her hobbies include gardening and genealogy. She has always been wonderful with small children.

His father, also David BERRY, sent him to live in the country when he remarried. At first he lived alone but later he lived with Nina and Woodzell AYERS and their five daughters. He married the third daughter during World War II. He introduced Frank ROWLEY to the AYERS family.
David Berry's war service -
He enlisted in the A.I.F. 6 Oct 1939 #VX1519. Transferred to RAAF 25 Sep 1940 #18634. After training - WT/Air operator 1941; Instructor in Empire Air Scheme, in W.T. Air operation. Based in Ballarat.
Commissioned 4 Dec 1943, Melbourne University. Posted to 2 Wireless Unit 1944 - within Central Bureau Organization (the Pacific equivalent of the British Ultra Organisation) - an intelligence organisation based on the reception of enemy radio and subsequent resolution of its contents and point of transmission. Based in Broome, Northern Territory. Appointed Chief Signals Officer and acting Intelligence Officer of 2WU in Jan 1945.
Discharged with substantive rank of Flying Officer 14 Dec 1945.
David Berry's post-war education - Matriculated 1946. Studied at School of Agriculture at Uni of Melbourne 1947 - 1950. Graduated B.AgSc 1951
David Berry's career - 1951-52 Soil Conservation Authority; 1952-68 Manager of Fertiliser Sales and Advisory Service, Electrolytic Zinc Co (Hobart); 1968-78 Manager of Fertiliser Sales, Export and Domestic, Western Mining Corp. Travelled often in Asia on business, delighting in learning as much as possible about the people, language, food and culture. Retired 1978. Hobby - restoring old furniture, listening to classical music.
