Educated at Friends' School, Hobart and University of Tasmania (2 yrs); Infant teacher at Friends School; crowned as Miss Tasmania for 1965 in October 1964, 1965 and travelled overseas in this role in 1965.
Many relations from Victoria attended Janet's marrage in Hobart in December 1966. She and David Cook honeymooned overseas in 1967 and 1968. Their trip included three months travelling on a tandem bicycle with a trailer in England, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.
David and Janet now live in Aspley, Brisbane, Queensland. Janet has been the Wardrobe Mistress for Brisbane Arts Theatre since 1986.
