Misc. Notes
Charles went to South Africa, South America and North America then back to Victoria with his brother, Ronald.
He lived with Ronald and his family, except between about 1930 and 1941 when he lived with his sister Madeline. He was regarded as a funny man.
Charles had many girlfriends but didn’t marry because of his poor health. When young he nearly died of Scarlet Fever and later was often sick. He sought doctor’s advice before going to South Africa and was told it might make him better or kill him. His health was better in Africa but he continued catching fevers after returning to Australia.
Charles liked children. One story is of Charles looking after his baby nephew, Geoff, who soiled his nappy; Charles took him out on the lawn and washed him down with a hose.
Keith, who must have been about 5 at the time, remembers him outsidethe garage at Ron's house in Capitol Ave., which was then used as a joinery shop, arguing that "A cow is a horse and a horse is a cow".
