Abraham arrived in Victoria in 1854, as a four year old child.
157Abraham had a furniture store and warehouse in Williamstown
158 The first Fredman's store was opened in Nelson Place, Williamstown, around 1880. Later the Ferguson Street property was built. The Newport store was opened in 1929. In October 1958, Fredmans Furnishings, including shops in Williamstown, Newport, Spotswood and Altona, was taken over by Patersons Pty Ltd. All Fredman's staff were kept on in employment with the new firm. The Mrs Fredman who handed over the keys was presumably married to a descendent of Abraham's brother Isadore.
