John, Maria and their 7 year old daughter, Maria, emigrated to Victoria ca 1860, when Maria was about 31 . •4 They had two more children in Victoria, George Edward in 1860 when John was mining in the gold fields and Ada in 1869 when they were living in Collingwood. •3

Maria died at home in Bruswick St, Fitzroy, in 1874, aged 45, after 7 months illness caused by cancer of the womb •4 She had an Anglican burial.
